I was asked by the good folks over at ImagineFX magazine to do a workshop tutorial for their magazine a couple months back. I wasn't sure what I was going to paint up and ended up doing a tutorial for this Martian-like character. It wasn't a tutorial necessarily on concept design or anything, just a simple tutorial showing the readers one way I approach doing a painting of a character. I painted it not knowing what I was going to paint. I just started painting some shapes and forms and eventually came up with this character.
