I just wanted to say, "HI!" to ya'll. You guys/gals really know how to make a guy feel welcome. Thanks for all the great comments. I appreciate each and every one I receive. Keep 'em comin! hee =>
For those of you interested I thought I'd give you a small bio on myself. Well, I've been an artist all my life, but I've been a working artist for the past 12 years. I started my career fulfilling a childhood dream of mine, to draw comic books. I started out working for Extreme Studios, which was a branch of Image Comics. After a couple of years having fun doing that, I decided that I wanted to get an actual art education. So I took a hiatus from my career and attended Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. It was here that I was finally exposed to all the traditional mediums like oils, acrylics, watercolors, charcoal, etc. I learned so much here, not only about techniques but also about theories, history, how to think, etc. It was the greatest move I could've made in my career. I studied as an Illustration major. After school, I went back to the comic book industry to work on the new Tomb Raider comic book series to be published by Top Cow Productions, another branch of Image Comics. I did a fun run on the series spanning from issue #1 to #20 (w/ the exception of a couple of fill-in issues done by other artists). After Tomb Raider, I moved on and worked on a variety of projects both in comics and outside of comics. I did a comic book based on the hit TV show, Alias. It was my first comic book where I illustrated everything from pencils to paints. I did a bunch of illustrations for magazines such as Maxim, FHM, PSM, Wizard, Flex, and Muscle & Fitness. I illustrated a children's book. I fulfilled another childhood dream and was hired by Marvel to work on Uncanny X-Men, with the legendary Chris Claremont. I also got to do a ton of covers for Marvel. I did some concept designs for a Dungeons & Dragons video game, Dragonshard. And finally, I made the move to full-time concept artist in 2005 when I was hired at Sony Santa Monica Studios. The game I helped design was the Playstation 2 video game, God of War 2. I helped design characters, creatures, props, weapons, and environments for the game. I also got to do some storyboarding, color keys, HUD designs, and marketing illustrations. I'm currently still at Sony working on a next-gen Playstation 3 video game. I'm legally not allowed to say what game it is. Sorry...
Well, if you're still reading I'll assume that you were actually interested in knowing a little about my background (I know I love reading bios/backgrounds of fellow artists). And if you're still reading and falling asleep, sorry man, just check out my gallery please. I hope you like!
Thanks again all for making me feel so welcome here! I look forward to all the new friends I'm sure to make here!
